Hi
does anyone know if there is anyway of getting mortage payments frozen? Maybe this is just a dream scenario but the story goes something like this....
... last year my mothers brother died . There was not enough in the estate to settle tax bills etc so his home was put on the market. The sale has fallen through twice and the redemption figure is getting very close to the actual wort of the premises now what with the credit crunch in full swing. Obviously the mortgage is just totting up monthly .... is there any advice you can offer? Can a mortgage be frozen so that it doesnt run into negative equity whilst we try to secure a sale ?
My mother who is elderly herself thought she was doing an easy thing by taking on the mantle of adminstrator as her brother died without leaving a will but its beyond her knowledge and mine.
The mortgage looks as though its a tracker with the HSBC
Can anyone offer any help please , I'd be very grateful

All you can do is speak to HSBC and explain the situation, and hope they will be sympatheticI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. My parents (divorced for 12 years) had a joint mortgage which my Dad paid as he lived in the house alone, when he died. My Mum had to pay it til the house was sold. As his next of kin and no will I had to deal with all the other stuff so may be able to help with other questions if you have any.0
