How do I type the Euro (€) symbol?

However, the above shortcuts don't work on every PC.

Conclusion
it only works if:

• you are using a font with euro support
• your OS supports it: Win 2000 onwards (95/98 with service packs)
• your codepage (charset) does: e.g. windows 1252 or ISO 8859-15

The even shorter answer is to
* hold down the Alt Gr key (just to right of the space bar)
* press the 4 key (just above e and r)
* release the Alt Gr key.

Pretty well every font you have available to you will include the € symbol, and XP has the required support in the operating system!

PS It was all so different during the heady days of 1998 and 1999!

That was one of the options mentioned in post #1.
