when saving encourages bad habits!

i have a great way to save extra money towards paying off my credit card.

my one vice is smoking - i know. i am the original tight bottom, but i do still smoke, disgusting.

anyway, on eu hols, i buy enough ciggies to last me 6/9 months, using a nationwide (or other) credit card that does not charge for foreign currency conversion. i buy cheap and cheerful, which work out about £1-£1.30 per pack. transfer the debt to my interest free credit card when i get home, and then, every time i have a new packet of cigs, i buy them off myself for £2.50, which i keep in a tin by the ciggie stash. bingo, every month i not only have enough to pay a fair pecentage of the o/s ciggie debt, i'm also paying off the other debt faster as well. oh, and i do still pay more off out of my wages every month, no debt horrors here! :snow_grin

    yes and yes!!!!

well it works for me on the booze cruise side, we used to do a similar thing with the ciggies, never tried it for shoes but it MUST work cause now I wanna do it!!!!
  • I do that with my freezer food. I "buy it" from myself at normal(instead of bogof ) price and stash the money. Then when theres a lot of bargains Ive always got the extra cash for them.
