XD Card Error

Options
I have a Fujifilm 128Mg XD card for my Finepix camera.
Suddenly I cannot read the card. I shows '! Card Error' when in the canera and also if I try to read it in a card reader on my P/C.
Anyone know how I can get the photos off the disk???

Try That, then format the card via My Computer,
That will delete everything so be warned.

I had the same problem a couple of times with a Fuji 256 card and unfortunately there was nothing I could do except return the card to the supplier for a replacement.
    Sadly the photos were lost.
  • I don't know if thoses image recovery programs work with a card error. I think it's gone :(

I used one once before (can't remember which one it was though!) and I think all it did was repair the path names. I understood that unless you reformat, when you delete the photos it only deletes the path??? That's what I read on some website or other anyway, but it's probably total rubbish!

Thanks for the advice, I will try them all and if the worst comes to the worst, buy a new chip.

Its actually right to a point. When windows has to delete a file, it marks the file name with a special character indicating its not needed, and hides the file path. When windows decides to use the space allocated previously to the unwanted file, it overwrites the file, otherwise it just sits there on the hard drive making it possible to recover it.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
