Right to appeal this parking ticket?
Hi all,
Just got a parking ticket for the following 'offence' I feel photos are the only option for explaining so please consider the following two...

I understand of course that the law won't appreciate the fact that this was nothing more than a mistake caused by a pan left on in the house and a generally hectic day - despite the fact that the our car has been parked in this spot for practically 20 years! But legally speaking all the Highway Code says is that "You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zigzag lines." - Well one wheel - an inch on the block at the END of the zigzag - not on the zigzag surely is no offence!? Eagerly waiting the opinion of any lawyers of my right to appeal and its chances of success... or of anyone with any experience in this field. Thanks a lot in advance.

It's not just the wheel is it though. The whole back end is overhanging the zig zag lines.
Just because it's not touching the road doesn't mean it's not causing the offenceIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
The position in which you have parked causes an obstruction and reduced visibility to other road users in the vicinity of a pedestrian crossing.
In short, you shouldn't park there. I would pay it without question. You are also parked on the wrong side of the road and are a hazard at night.
You should visit pepipoo.com and double check that the crossing has been installed correctly, but I doubt you'll find much sympathy.0 -
(The car is never left facing that way at night)
And I assume you realise a foot to the right is a perfectly legal position to park, but is there no other grounds for appeal if the vehicle is left for a short time - or is that only for unloading - also I had heard that the only problem with (parking on) lines is if the WHEEL is on it - NOT the overhang, although I couldn't back this up - I have always belived it to be the case for some reason.0 -
modo,
Post the images here: http://forums.pepipoo.com with a copy of the ticket (wiped clean of any personal info) and they will analyse it fully there.
They are excellent.0 -
im sorry
im my opinion the line is there for a reason
you crossed the line - i would consider yourself lucky your not getting points
My friend got three for parking on those lines out side a shop0 -
Is this a PCN from the council, or an FPN from the police? If the former, worth checking out if it's correct with the folks on pepipoo. If the latter, then it WILL be correct; there's no doubt about that.
However, you should never, ever park on zig zags - they are there for a reason.0 -

Its well over a foot onto the zigzag lines. I don't believe there is a minimum period for parking. It is a dangerous position to park, both for road users and pedestrians.
It matters not whether it is a wheel or an overhang. The vehicle is parked over the lines.0 -
If I parked that badly the last thing I'd do is take a photo and show the world wide web???
it's only the car passing that shows me which side of the road you were parked on, you're that far away from the kerb!
next time you're in a hurry, just leave it wherever you like. btw the highway code isn't the be all and end all of rto'sRemember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
Technically it shouldn't be a parking ticket.
It should be 3 points and a £60 fine.0
