Slow Computer Help!!!!

My laptop has had a bit of a breakdown and as i don't have the cash to repair it i have resorted to my desktop. It's ok but the only thing is it's so slow. :mad: Using the internet has been so frustrating and a nightmare. I've given it a disk clean, defraged it, deleted some old software but it's still slow. I'm guessing it may have to do with the RAM but i'm not sure. It has a 2.00GHz CPU, 480MB of RAM and 60GB Hard Drive, used only 23%.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.:D

Doubling the ram would help

You could also cut down the number of programs running at start up. Read this and just to add after rebooting you'll get a message, simply tick the box and press ok.

Startuplite is very good at telling you what you can do without at start up time - it's free too.
