The US opened 15 minutes ago so we'll see the impact that's had in a few minutes (indices are delayed by 15 minutes for general consumption).
  • I've put my pension back in on the hope that the brokers overreact and drive the markets down today, recovering on Monday. As usual, I'll get the close of day prices. Got 75k riding.

    Fingers crossed. :)

p.s. Will be selling and back into Cash on Monday/Tue eve if all goes well!

Will be in the Dog and Dart with my face in a beer glass if things go badly!

How did you do last time I know it was close.
  • Last time I gained a fortune but left it in there too long and so it fell back. I increased from £70k to the £75k I'm putting back in. I'd be happy with another £5k gain to take me up to £80k.

To be honest, I've already 'gained' today because I was out of the market during these large drops, so if I buy in and it goes down even more, I'll still be doing better than if I left my pension alone (as most people do) and had to take the full drop.

Thanks for the good wishes guys. :)

Well we're down ~6% on the day now and I don't think there are any more company results out in the US so we're likely to close at about that level.

We have a winner now too. BHP Billiton.

As a matter of interest what 'vehicle' are you using to invest in? I assume this is cash you have in a SIPP.
