Paint Shop Pro 5

Hi

I use PSP 5 a lot and have put it on my new Vista computer but when I try to use the colorize bit it will only change it to black and white and not colours.

On the windows XP computer I used to be able to change the colours used to a larger amount but it doesnt give me that option on the new computer.

I have my resolution set to my monitor in control panel.

Can anyone help please?

That's really old and to be honest I think you should be surprised it runs at all on Vista. Even much later version need a patch to run properly and completely on Vista and I don't think they'll have bothered making a patch for version 5. Maybe time to think of upgrading, yours is seven versions and ten years behind.

You could always try free up-to-date apps which do similar things like: Paint.net, The GIMP etc. Or bite the bullet and buy Photoshop ;)

Also one thing you could try is running it in compatibility mode (right click on the program icon).

Everytime I load my PSP 9 it reverts to Vista Basics. So your version is quite old! Can you try and switch to Vista Basics to see if it works?

Thanks for all of your replies
I will have a look at the free apps, it was just that I have got so used to using psp5 and the only thing I have noticed that doesnt work is the colourize (so far), Thought it might have been something simple to change that I didnt know about but you are all right, I should get a more up to date app lol.

    Thanks again
