Having just had a conversation with Southern Electric.
The advisor said that if you elec & heating costs are 20 % of you income they may be able to put you on a cheaper tariff.
Thought it may help some people......
Sorry don't have any futher info tho.

NPower do this also, the criteria are alittle stricter though.
It's Spreading Warmth. Criteria are: Income under £13,500 a year and a vulnerable in the property. (Elderly, chronic illness, disabled, v.young)
If you have a debt then the First Step team can help, their criteria are simply 10% or more of your income spent. They can offer lower than normal payment plans, a lower tarrif and if you stick religious;y to the plan for a set ammount of time they will sometimes do a write off of part of the balance.0 -
I'd say those are fairer and less strict criteria.
Having a 'vulnerable' is questionable but at least it is available to those on a low income - you don't have to waste lots of money on fuel to qualify.0 -

The one that requires 10% is First step, for those in debt.0
