Car Leasing

My partner leased a car in Sept, we have entered into a two year contract which is personal contract hire.
We agreed to pay three months rental in advance totalling £510, and monthly payments of £167 inc thereafter. At the time we were in a financially stable position, however I have recenetly moved jobs and will not pick up any income now until Decemeber.
We do have the money to cover the rentals and will cut back on spending to ensure this however to date the leasing company has failed to take any payments from us, including the 3 months advance rentals. This is leaving us in an akward position as we owe the leasing company over £800.
My partner has spoken to the leasing company about resolving this and they are saying it is taking a whiel to put it onto thier system and once they do the money will be taken...
Where do we go from here? Is this company allowed to delay inputting our DD details onto the system or should they be sorting this out regardless of any issues they have?
If they attempt to take the funds and we do not have them where will this leave us?

Owing them money. You need to set the money aside.
I can see this type of question about leasing becoming more common in the next few months. If you are thinking about leasing just now think twice before tying yourself into any extended deal.
Good luck (by the way give em hell for fannying around)0 -
Why on earth wouldn't you have the money? You bought/leased something and have to pay for it.0

This is a strange one, i thought you had to pay the lease company 3 months up front, by cheque, on a 2 year deal before you get the car.I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another, so please feel free to ignore this.0

We have asked the company if we can pay the deposit whilst they are setting up the DD payment for the monthly rental, we do not have an issue covering this.
Our concern is that if they do not set this up this month, or next month then it becomes incredibly hard for us to account for our finances.
The issue is not us not being able to pay for the monthly rentals or to cover the deposit - the issue is we are two months into a contract and no initial payments have been taken.
How do we go about resolving this and pushing the leasing company to actually set up the DD payment.0 -
Oh they can really mess it up. I have had the deposit taken by the agent and then again by the finance company. So OP is lucky its only not gone out!!0
