Friday 23/10/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will:
  • Clicks
  • check online banking
  • storecupboard lunch
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • go for swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • cook tea for oldies at work and eat for free
  • put up all the halloween decs that I found yesterday saved from last year:D
  • freeze sausages I made last night from woopsied lamb;)
  • be sparkly and in a happy mood as it is the start of the weekend:j
Happy Friday everyone, :D busy day ahead coffee morning day here , then cooking tea for everyone later - lots of free eating though so won't have to cook tea at home:D
Hi to all the regulars and welcome to any newbies. Hope you all have a good day.
catch you later.

    Morning!

I'm all early this morning. I am not even going to bother making a list today. I know it is payday. I know I am getting take away for the first time in possibly more than a month. I am also aware that I am buying myself a rather big treat today. I am going to get myself a Metallica ticket. (£40)

I'm extremely excited about it. I am planning on rejoining the make £10 per day as of 1st Nov and am hoping I can start to pay off a couple more things and get myself another couple of little treats.

We've got to have lives too right?!

    KTjazz.

ps. I've updated my sig. that counts!

Morning all! At last, a bit of sun in Manchester!

    Today I have/will.....
    • Resisted the urge to go to Subway for lunch and brought a near the use by date carton of fresh soup from the fridge for lunch
    • Will top up the car with petrol at the cheap station near work at lunchtime rather than paying service station prices tomorrow on the motorway
    • Have omelette and veg to use up the fresh stuff before we go away for the weekend rather than using something from the freezer (usual Friday tea)
    • Not buy anymore cigarettes!!!!
    • Walk dog in the sun for free exercise
    • Do washing tonight so it'll dry whilst the heating is on (only for 2 hours though!)
    • Draw out cash for weekend away and stick to it rather than using cards that I get carried away with cos its not real money!
    • Check banks/quidco/surveys
    • Pack for weekend tonight and pack over night bag for the dog (staying with a friend)
    • Put in expense claim for work mileage yesterday
    • Cheque for cash mum owed me arrives today - if I have time before the bank closes i'll put it in
    That's it for today.

    Have a good weekend!
    See you next week.

  • Sun, wind, (hopefully no rain - who am I kidding) in Orkney!! Waving to all you 'southerners'!!

    Today
    Washing out (clearly feeling optimistic)
    Writing to do
Store tea, saves the takeaway temptation later, but hey like you all say its Friday - but we did have a takeaway on um Tues or was it wed??
Work out budget with no moo moo, baa baa job (stock checking ends on Monday - sheep go today and Coo's go on Monday)
Say a yes to lodger - and work out logistics of stuff
Thinking advertising for a cleaner - I know not very DFW - but if its me full time phd, housefull, and whilst I cook like an angel (kinda) I am rubbish at cleaning.....make the lodger thing more viable I guess for them - and take a bit of slack off of me?? Or am I just lazy???

Will think of more later, convincing son, who has been mercilessly kicked out of bed at 10.30 to do some baking today..............hes not sounding very um positive about it!!!

Sparkle and shine today, star socks black with rainbow stars on.

Go for it re tickets for concerts - life is about having fun too.....xxx
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
