Red Letter Day travesty

Last year before Allders went under, I bought from them two red letter day vouchers which were due to expire early next year.

I spoke to Red Letter days today who informed me that they are not honouring vouchers from Allders, basically becasue the new Red Letter days company has not taken over the debt of the old Red Letter Day company which went into liquidation in August this year

I then rang Kroll who were involved in both the winding up of Red Letter Days and Allders (how ironic ) and they told me my claim is against the old Red Letter days but as an unsecured creditor I will probably get nothing.

I bought the vouchers using my Visa Debit card. Do I have any recourse to claiming my money back through the company providing my Visa Debit Card ?

Apparently so - see this Working Lunch article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/4260806.stm

    I lost a voucher too.
This was bought by cash from alders.
Red letter days gave me a number to ring for alders customers - I think it was possible to get a proportion back along with other creditors, but I didn't follow this up.
I think it would be worth ringing your credit card company as it is much more likely that you will get refunded through them providing you still have your proof of purchase.
    Annoying though isn't it?
