Didn't I do well????????

Hey all
I'm pleased as a pig in **** that I've managed the following - please see if I've ballsed up anywhere or could have done it better...

WAS
Capital One Card: -£200 at 17.93%
Next: -£120 at 25%+ approx
Barclaycard Flexi -£1,150.00 at 22.9%
Student Loan -£516.40 at 0.0%
Council Tax Arrears -£412.76 0.0%
Utility arrears -£350.00 at 0.0%
HMCO (court debt) -£500.00 at 0.0%
Dell Finance -£527.55 at 29.0% - approx
Overdraft Facility - 2000 at 9%

SO, I stuck CapitalOne and Next onto overdraft to reduce them to 9% - also when I found out (today) the Dell APR was so large am paying this off next month along with the Barclaycard IN FULL.

Have to then pay the HMCO court fine off by Feb and all others are at 0% so couldn't care too much as am not running them up further and just chucking cash at them.

Will still be overdrawn when all this done, but then, and once confirmed all credit stuff is clean and good (have had a few things to sort out) - I can hopefully transfer the OD to a 0% 6 months CC - and then pay off at £250 per month....

WELL annoyed I only found out the Dell was so expensive today - but they didn't manage to get me a copy of the contract so I had to phone and ask today - DOH! BUT WEEEEEEEEEY happy that I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel......

Hope you'll share an e-drinkie with me!

The trick is now for me not to spend so much generally - How much does anyone spend on booze per week - it seems to be at least £50 for me which is maaaaaaaaaadness

Thanks for listening :xmassign:

Also cant you get a 0% card now instead of the 9% OD?

HSBC (i thing are doing 9 months interest free - this info available on the forums here)
  • thanks - I have some things to sort out on my credit file that may not allow some of the better deals - so was going to sort them and then apply in the new year for the 0% deals as I don't want to apply now and then run the risk of a no, only to then have to wait another 6-18 months - so just being careful. The OD at 9% is managable at the present!

£50 a week on booze?!?!? Blimey!

I hardly go out any more, and don't buy wine for at home, so I maybe go for a drink once or twice a month, and spend a tenner a time if that? It's just wasted cash when you're skint.

    Well done!

I don't spend anything on booze really - the occasional bottle for a dinner party a few times a year, but that's it.

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • well done op, keep it up, it looks like a great plan to me :) well done :)

Well done, youve done brilliantly!!! Yippeeeeeee!!!

An average night out seems to cost me £40. (£10 for club, £10 for cab & rest on drink & kebab, hehe!!!). I cant afford to do that each week, well I could now, but dont want to, but when I was paying off my debt I was living on £50 a week, so that would have been all of my budget.

I used to be able to go out on £20, sometimes less & have a fab night - my looks must be fading ;0) Just kidding!!

To be honest, it is such a waste of money, and when you think how much that amounts to over the year - well, I think I need to find some more hobbies!!

Well done on the debt reduction though, June 06 will be here before you know it!!

    xx

Well done. You've managed to put the higher rater debt onto a lower rate debt. Martin Will be proud :D

Staying at home drinking is much cheaper than going out. Maybe alternate the two so you only go out every other week, or save going out for the last weekend before pay day. Persuade your friends to come around and watch a dvd or play computer games and get everyone to bring a bottle. Or go to a local pub that is free to get in to and you can walk home from. £20 quid saved. :j

Is the Dell Finance like a store card where you can pay off as much as you can each month? Or is it a fixed amount loan that is direct debited over a fixed number of months? If it's a loan, the interest over the period has already been taken into account when they decided how much you pay them each month so the amount you owe won't get any worse. Therefore if you wanted to concentrate on other debt first you can. Although at 29.9% if you can pay it off early do so. I hope someone will correct me if I have got this wrong.
