halifax CL increase

Options
I have a Halifax one crdit card and opted for the slow stooze, and will be almost up to the CL, has anyone successfully had an increase of their CL during the promotion, if so any tips on how long to wait or any specific patterns on the account to increase chances e.g. overpay a little bit on the monthly payments even though this would mean a reduction on the profit for up until the limit has been increased. Also, I have a Sainsbury card from ages ago where it was 0% purchases for 12mnths-still use if I go to sainsbury for the nectar points, I noticed its with halifax too, does anyone know if they would transfer the limit across???

  • Dont bother asking! The answer will be no.

Just apply for another slow stooze card.

How can you be so sure? I'm hoping that M&S will give me an increase on my credit limit in 6 months time for slow stoozing as I will hit the limit around then. I certainly don't agree with "Don't bother asking". I believe you never know if you don't try.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

I agree. Its always worth asking the question however slim the possibility appears based on the experiences of others.

If you don't ask, you don't get ;)

I asked some time after the 6 months had passed and got an increase from 2700 to 3200 [but I think I asked for 3600?]

I've not every asked for a CL before, is it better to ask them what the highest limit they can offer or is it better to ask for them to increase it to x amount??

and does anyone know about the sainsbury limit transfer??

They won't do anything for you there, I've asked them that myself. The 'bottom line' is that Halifax gave a credit limit based on outstanding debt when you took the card - so just cancelling your unsued credit is not impressive to them. They are also a bit tighter than other card issuers on initial limits -which they are then loath to raise- I've found.

I have the Halifax one card (also doing the slow stooz) and they put my credit limit up without me asking! I just received a letter one day saying it was up around 2.5K! so I guess they'd be no harm in asking. I might ask if they they increase the time limit of the offeras its due to end very soon.

Also I recently phoned Tesco c.c. and asked for a credit limit increase. They gave me one there and then!

I've heard from other people on this forum that they're very generous on credit limits - certainly that's what I found to be the case, I've had 7 credit cards and the Halifax limit was by far the highest of all of them.
