Hi
I have recently started selling a fair bit of clothes on ebay and was considering buying a mannequin so that the clothes can be pictured better.
Anyone got any suggestions as to where I can buy a mannequin? I have tried ebay and best I could do was £20.

note there are different names you can look under:
manniquin, mannicuin, manequin,... spelling mistakes are fair game!
tailors dummy, dressmakers dummy, dress makers dummy, clothes model....
they all have thier prices attached and £20 is about average for a mannicuin, my best advice for something like that is not to use ebay as postage can really bump things up. Insted look out for ads placed in local newspapers for carboot sales, flea markets, charity jumble sales, closeing down stores (who will need to get rid of display stands) and loot.com. Junkshops can be good but the only ones I know tend to feel its a good idea to call everything vintage and then charge 100 times the amount they should be. They can actually put craft fairs to shame! (no offence to craft makers- I am one!! lol! but aware to cover fees that prices can be steep!)
Also try local clothes stores like River Island, Topshop, Primark...etc, may seem daft but they do get rid of thier displays, a store I used to did this one every 2 or 3 years. You could be lucky? but it doesn't hurt to ask, and even put your name down/give contact details if you can. They can always refuse- retail stores are one of THE most disorganised places you will ever find ( my experience anyway lol!) so them keeping your details may be asking a bit much! but can be worth a try.0 -

If you have a spare blow up doll in the cupboard that might do the trick;):D
