My Garmin i3 has died - help!

I have a Garmin Streetpilot i3 which I purchased in September 2006.
When I turn it on a message comes on screen which says
"Please use the provided PC software to load maps containing turn-by-turn route information".
I did not have any software when I bought this sat nav, it came pre-loaded with City Navigator Europe NT. I had a driver CD rom only.
Can anyone tell me whether my sat nav is totally dead and I should buy a new one (although 2 years isn't very long!) or can it be resurrected.

Hi, Have you tried signing in to My Garmin, where you can enter your satnavs serial no and check if there is an update for it, http://www8.garmin.com/support/download.jsp
I'm afraid thats the only option other than phoning Garmin for help

Thanks Alan. OH was having a fiddle with it this morning and found a little rectangular bit that he pressed and it must have given it the kiss of life! Don't know what happened originally to cause the problem or what he did to bring it back to life but thankfully it is working again now. Just in time too as we had to go to Aberystwyth today and we'd have been totally lost without it, a right modgy place to get around when you don't know the town! (Apologies to anyone who lives there!) Just glad we didn't have to buy a new one.
