Help needed! Car Insurance claim

Hi

I am hoping someone can give me advice!

My car was in an accident in August and was assessed by the insurers and written off (it took a while to get to that stage!). I was given 3 days to collect my belongings and tax disk but due to work committments I could get to the garage in this time. When I rang to tell them this I was advised that the car had already gone to the salvage yard. I asked the insurers about my car tax disk and my belongings (mostly my daughters CD's - most of the things had been taken out before the car left my house) and was told that the garage had sent my tax disk to me and there were no p ersonal belongings whatsoever in the vehicle. I asked if they had proof of postage but was told no - strangely the tax disk has never turned up.

I was advised that the excess would be waived. A cheque arrived but the excess had not been deducted so I returned it recorded delivery a few weeks ago but this was just recorded on the system on 20/10. The hire car people have advised that 'my time is up' tomorrow night and I will no longer be insured for the hirecar vehicle. So I have no car, no cheque, no tax disk, no Hannah Montana cd's ! and the complaints people may ring me tomorrow but may not. Somehow I have to manage without a car for work or kids school holidays/weekend and none of it is my fault.
Please can someone help, I just don't know what to do now - except insure my wheeels with another company next time!

Thanks in advance
