trying to install sound driver....help

in Techie Stuff
since buying new speakers which have never worked nor has the speakers on the screen, i have put in motherboard disc to install Audio Driver soundmax (?)
But when i do this it comes up with 'Driver not found !, reboot your system and run setup again.
Tried this but keeps coming up with same message.
Can anybody help ?
