I remember reading and it might have been on this site in Martin's article about Kaupthing that the terms of the fixed terms deposits will remain the same. Got that wrong I think it was ING who said it. I have a large sum fixed at 7.15% for one year and have left it there but don't know if it is the right thing to do.

Hi Guys, like you I have a fix term account ( i also have a savings account with K/E - ING)
Anyhow - ING Have said the following -

    Fixed Term Product Accounts:
Customers with deposits in a Fixed Term Savings accounts can be assured that these rates will be honoured by ING Direct for the remaining term of the accounts.

So I am going to keep my fix term open, but withdraw most of the money from my savings account.

  • I took out a fixed term deposit with Kaupthing a few months back with full UK protection. However, my money now appears to be locked away for another 8 months, but the protection removed as the UK Gov have allowed the account to be sold on to ING. Can this be right? I know I'm protected under the Dutch scheme, but specificly went with Kaupthing so as to receive UK protection. I've emailed HM Tresurary, but got a 'we're too bust to answer' fob off.
