hi

i am not at all techie and i lots of people have helped me before on mse.

i am using aol vista, i have current flash installed and virus checkers cannot detect any virus.

my problem is, on certain sites and even sites i have visited before, my screen freezes for a while and the screen goes really light (almost white) sometimes after a while the site finally loads itself or it just does not respond and i get the (aol is not responding)and have to start task manager, end task then i have to sign on again, there is no problem with the laptop itself,

has anybody else experienced this? if anyone knows the answer i would be so grateful as this has been going on for some time now and i have had enough of it.

many thanks in advance

nilrs

Your post isn't clear - what browser do you use? AOL or Internet Explorer? I would try another browser such as Firefox, Chrome or Opera...

    hi

i use aol, the only thing that may be affecting it i am not sure is that i have this darned incredimail which is another thing i have to get rid of.

it is hard to explain the problem, an example is i have just tried to to onto the jetix website for my son, but when i went onto the page he wanted you click on what you want to look at, the screen then goes really light and sort of freezes, eventually the page loaded but really slow and everytime i clicked on something for him it happened again, then it just froze and i got the (aol is not responding) and had to stark my task manager to cancel aol and then had to resign on again.

this keeps on happening with various websites usually with a lot of content with moving images etc.

hope this is starting to make sense.

You say you use Aol - do you use the Aol browser (i.e. do you open something called Aol to use the internet or do you open internet explorer or similar?)

Download, install, update and do a quick scan with Malwarebytes and let it remove anything it finds. i think it should get rid of incredimail or if it doesnt work go to control panel then add and remove programs then uninstall it.

Are you on Broadband or dialup? The problem sounds like an old dialup issue!

It sounds like the AOL browser is playing up, assuming you use that and not IE.

Try installing Firefox and use that to browse the web.

It does definitely sound like you have a problem with AOL browser. Try logging in then minimizing AOL and opening Internet Explorer which you can find in Start/Programs. I don't use Vista but if you aren't sur how to open Internet Explorer if you are new to Vista, I believe that presing the windows key and the 'R' key brings up a run dialogue box and if you type 'internet explorer' into it and press 'enter' key, that will launch internet explorer for you. Then navigate to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ and download firefox because it is simply the best browser there is.

If you prefer to stick with AOL Browser then download the latest version for vista here http://daol.aol.com/vista as it maybe the copy you have is not compatible (even if it came supplied with a vista ready machine). There is a known issue with AOL games causing a white screen. Fix here
