How to watch UK tv in the states

Can i ask if anyone knows of a way to watch UK tv in the States. My brother lives there and misses what we watch. He would like to try and bbc 1,2,3 and BBC News. If possible he would also like to try and get uktv Gold.

Any ideas??

  • he could watch it online if he has broadband. The bbc has iplayer and I think the other 'terrestrial' channels have versions of it too. He could hook up his laptop (if he has one) to his tv by vga or hdmi

    The Iplayer and any bbc output is severly restricted overseas, they check the IP address you are on and block it if the copyright does not apply in the country you are in, I have tried it a few times when I travel, he could try but do not hold your breath.
    There is a couple of bbc channels I see in hotels but they are pretty poor to be honest.

    You could buy and set up a Slingbox in the UK. Quality is a bit limited by typical upload speed in the UK. Google for more info.
