Has anybody had a new DD estimate from them recently?

Got Mine today

Old Monthly DD £33
New Monthly DD £125:eek:

I knew it would be bad but omg!!

I know it seems to be a monopoly over on the mainland but at least there are 6 major providers!

Here's to candles and sitting in the dark!

  • i phoned about mine a few weeks ago since I knew we were slightly in the red.

Current dd was £29 (admittedly too little) but they wanted to up it to £66. Managed to talk them down to £55 with a promise to up it if it didn't cover the costs.

Yours sounds way extreme even by these standards though, unless you are well in the red I'd say it's worth a call to ask for an explanation...

Surely that's a mistake, if you're not in the red with them.

I haven't had mine yet, I've been running a dehumidifier and I'm afraid to work out what the next bill is going to be :undecided

I got a letter for increase foran extra £8 a month which puts me up to £60 per month for a three bedroom bungalow .... I am at home all day too as I childmind. So £125 a month seems a bit extreme unless you have a very large house or are running something that uses a load of electric ???

I just got mine in - direct debit increase from £28 per month to £60 per month! Was going to ring them as I am now going back to work after 9 months maternity leave, so the past 3 bills are not reflective of the next 3 bills - I hope! Might suggest about £50 to them.

  • It looks like they have made a mistake - unless you have been under paying for a long time due to estimated bill readings.
It is certainly worth asking for them to check it.
The Consumer Council might also be able to give you independent advice.

unfortunately they all based on submitted meter readings, I'm not long in this property and I've got an electric hob, electric immersion heater, so may not have got the timings right on this and it been on unnecessarily. Plus the missus is on maternity leave so the TV's on, the Computer is on, and the washing machine on near constant! But am going to pay the DD for a couple of months cos that will clear the arrears anyway, then submit a new reading and see if things have changed (am now running round every 10 mins switching things off at the mains :D)
