Printing problems

My printer is doing my head in, it prints fine everything I do in word e.g writing letter but it will not print from the internet. It will print email but you can hardly read the contents, the print seems so faded. I know, it is not due to the ink as when I print from words, it prints fine. I want to buy another printer but I am not sure whether that will solve the problem!! I have been able to print a statement from HSBC and yet sometimes it will go to the motion of printing and at the end I get a blank document. Thanks

It's more than likely an issue with the printer driver setting or possibly printing from the browser you are using.
Printing from webpages is often very hit and miss, but not normally faded. When you print, open the properties / settings and ensure it's not set to draft, which can result in poorer prints. If a page isn't set-up properly or doesn't have a printable version, often it won't print correctly.
What browser are you using? If you are using IE, try Firefox to see if it's the same. (FF is an excellent browser).0 -
I use both. I have checked the properties settings and it is printing much better as I set it to black and white, before the default was colour and everytime I changed it to black and white it reverts to colour. I do not use the colour. It is so strange that I can print statement from HSBC but not fron Nationwide or Barclays. The barclays one is faded, you can see it has been going through the motion of trying to print. With nationwide, it prints what it wants. I must say it was printing fine until my friend remove all the usb cables to open the computer and since then it has been playing up. I do not mind buying another one but I do not it to be unpredictablelike this one. Thanks0

Ahhh, it could be that the colour cartridge has run out, and the font or design colour from the barclays one is using the 3 colours to create a muddy black, they are run out and that's why it's faded...
Some colour printers will print black graphics using the 3 colours rather than the black ink, depends on the printer, the driver and all sorts, I've seen some HP office laser printers do this too.
What printer?
Can you check the ink levels, and print a test sheet out to see if it's ok, all colours are ok etc?
If it's just faulty from web sites, but prints fine from other applications, really it's not the printer.
Do you have a PDF driver (plenty of free ones, CutePDF etc)? You could print to that first i.e. creating a PDF file, then print the PDF from Adobe Reader in colour, then in B+W to see if there is a difference - comparing with printing directly from the website to the printer.0 -
Thanks, I have solved the problem after all. I have just found out that the default is set to print in colour. And when I changed it to print black and white, it is printing after a few months of headache correctly. Problem every time when I print I have to change the default from colour to black and white, what ever I do it resets itself to the default as colour. Any idea how to set the default to print black and white only without it reverting back to colour. It is an old Lexmark z32 and it is doing the job ok. Thanks0
