Copying dvd

Please help. I am new to this & trying to copy/rip dvds to hard drive then burn to blank dvd to play on stand alone dvd player.
Where do I start? Have done similar with cds but need some guidance. I do have dvd recorder/windows xp .
any help appreciated.

wow .. i didn't realise lightning uk was associated with imgburn.
i still use dvd decrypter even now
