I like the sound of these very much. Ideal if you are arthritic, had an op or are unable to carry the usual vac upstairs. :T
We've seriously looked at them (in John Lewis) but decided to defer purchase while Mr LW is still able to wield the Dyson.:o

  • Onlineid - do you happen to have contact details for the UK service agents please? Trying to get my Roomba repaired and can't get through to iRobot. Thanks in anticipation.

Just a word of warning, Domotec, the UK service agent has ceased trading. Now repairs are being done in Germany. I have both a Roomba and Scooba (love the Roomba, wouldn't bother with a Scooba). Waited so long for the UK service agents to respond to a service request, that the Roomba is now out of warranty. Germany say it's nothing to do with them. Taking it up with States but yet to get any response . If you are going to buy one I'd suggest paying the extra and purchasing through Lakeland as at least then you know if there are any problems they will propably be far more helpful and replace the product.

I was not at all convinced that these things would be any good - even as a self-confessed gadget freak!

After hearing from a friend who has one (and loves it) I weakened and bought one. I am only using it upstairs (no longer able to lug the big vac upstairs). It is truly brilliant!! My house is quite small and it is difficult (well, impossible, really) to move the beds sufficiently to enable the big vac to do a thorough job under them. No problem for the Roomba - it happily (I assume!) does everything very thoroughly.

Mind you, I have been a bit startled if I have been out and come home to hear it going about its work!!!

I got one a few weeks ago, I bought it from Lakeland as I didn't think it would be much good but so far I'm made up with it and I'm hoovering a lot more than I used to (usually while I'm in the shower, doing the school runs, cooking tea etc!).
  • I bought one ages ago and it went wrong several times but fortunately I bought it from Lakeland who were brilliant. They sent me new ones twice and the last time it was only about a week before the warranty ran out. I got the newer version too which is less likely to go wrong. I couldn't be without Ruby now (glad I'm not the only one to have a name for it.)

Oh, I would l o v e one of those, I have loads of hard floors that attract dust like mad, sadly it's a bit more expensive than my 99p brush.

Do you really move furniture, I though you needed a van, a new house and two men to do that?

Sorry for not respnding sooner. If you haven't already resolved the situation, you'll need to try irobot again or failing that the german service agents https://www.digitest.de (+44) 0870 2485492. Took me absolutely ages to get through -almost one hour on hold - and no response from irobot yet. Good luck with it!
