kiddicare.com is cheap. as is glasgowpramcentre (not sure of website). but waiting for the sales sounds like the best idea for now.

Dont be ashamed to use hand me downs, things from car boot sales and things from charity shops. The baby will use them for such a short time that it's really not worth buying new when you can pick them up really cheap.

I had my third baby this year with a 10 year gap and i NEEDED a super duper all singing all dancing baby chariot!! Paid £400 for mamas and papas travel system - recommend you don't!!

    Reasons as follows -
    1) for the money not especially great quality
    2) its massive i have a large car and boot and it fills it
    3) mamas and papas only offer 6month guarantee - they claim it is from babe's birth but when my friend tried to get a repair done within this time she was told 6months runs from purchase date and the after sale customer service was rubbish!

I recommend either buy 2nd Hand or go for a fold up umbrella style that lays flat and buy a cosy toes - argos had a chicco one on offer for £50 a while ago which i am hoping they repeat in January!

Also don't buy a baby bath - you will never use!
Don't buy ton's of blankets/sheets either - buy a baby sleeping bag in January sales they are brilliant!

Ask the midwfie towards the end if she thinks its a big baby or not when she checks out the mummy, apparently they can tell general size if they're experienced enough.

i was told i was having a regular size baby but in the past few weeks after birth shes gotten very tall very quickly, growing out of the new baby stuff and pushing the toes of her 0-3 month stuff at one month old!!

dont be tempted to buy too many bulk buy nappies. they grow out of these quickly too!!

https://www.kiddicare.com is fab & if you are in/near Peterborough then its worth popping into the store. Ebay is also quite good & the sales should be starting anytime now.

buy car seat new as u cant tell if 2nd hand ones been in an accident. anything else u can get 2nd hand. get new mattress for cot too.
totally agree about sleeping bags for babies - think i heard that lidl will have some from 22nd dec for £3.99. get a few though in case of sick as the ones we have cant be tumble dried!
check pram will fit in car b4 u buy - sounds obvious but make sure u have room for shopping in boot as well as pram. ones we had 2nd hand for ds1 were too bulky so ended up buying smaller one as got older. this time we have all ds1 old stuff so didnt need anything but treated ds2 to graco mirage travel system which is great still light even with car seat attached & will last till toddler. we got it for £99 from kiddies kingdom in dewsbury but had to buy car seat base aswell as seatbelt in hubby's toyota 4x4 wouldnt fit round it (he needs it to pull trailers & things b4 i get moaned at 4 having a 4x4!! it is essential for him.) dh a bit slack & didnt test b4 we bought - even though i told him to! luckily fit in my car ok till we could get base.
clothes are grown out of b4 they are ruined so 2nd hand stuff still looks good. dont bother with too much newborn stuff - b4 they are walking it doesnt matter if they r a bit big! if u using reusable nappies remember these are bulkier too so need more bum space. when little they live in sleepsuits so i wouldnt get too many proper clothes.
our baby bath essential as i had ceasarian so cant bend to use big bath & cant use sink as taps stick out! can get them cheap from ikea or wilkinsons - same for changing mat, although i usually change ds2 (3 weeks old) on sofa with towel under. join boots parenting club & is a travel changing mat in the free changing bag which can put under towel - if u have a boy make sure u have spare towel to cover his bits so he doesnt wee everywhere b4 u get new nappy on!!
dont forget if u on working families tax credit u can claim sure start maternity grant which is about £500.
think thats about it. hope some of this helps!!
oh yes, health visitor told us that if u r bottlefeeding dont bother with newborn or slow flow teats, go straight to medium flow & newborn soothers just get spit out.
