Fitting new rad - Dumb question!

Hi all,
I am just about to fit a new rad in the conservatory and am a bit puzzled by something.
The rad has 4 white 'plug' type things on each end where the 2 valves, 1 blank and 1 air bleed bits go and I can't see how they come off (if they do!).
They look like they are a hard plastic and have a cross shape in them but won't turn or pull out.
Does this make sense to any of you? I can't see how to fit the valves and stuff without removing these 'plugs' but can't get them off either!
Rad is from B&Q - I've fitted rads from other places and never seen this before.
Feel a bit silly cos I'm sure it's a simple one, but don't want to hack away in case for some reason I need them!

Either screw off with a large screwdriver, or twist and pull with a pair of pliers. They're just plastic bungs.0

They should just unscrew, use the biggest screw driver you have, or a piece of flat metal jammed in the slot. It sounds as if you just need more leverage.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Thanks for the replies - done it now! It seems like it was a bit stuck with whatever rad paint they used at the factory, but a bit of a whack with a hammer and a knife blade sorted it!
I just didn't want to wreck it in case I needed those bits for any reason.
Thanks again - no doubt I'll be asking some equally daft question after I've fitted it and found it won't work or something! :beer:0 -
Make sure you get the radiator the right way up as well. Some of the tall ones have a blocking disc welded in the horizontal pipe which is meant to be at the end you put the supply/drain to force the water through the bars in the radiator. You should be able to see by shining a torch through the open holes when the plastic plugs are out.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
