Running for Mencap
Options
Hi Guys! Back in 1993 I ran the London Marathon..........(well, "running" is perhaps not how it was best described, but I completed it!).
15 years have gone by and it is time to dust down my trainers once more. I am running the London Marathon again, this time to raise money for Mencap, a charity of which I have seen the benefits first hand over the last couple of years and who have certainly made a big difference to someone very special to me.
Two children, too much chocolate, and 15 years have all taken their toll, so I have my work cut out. I did my first training "run" (there's that word again!) last Tuesday of 1.5 miles, and have managed to get up to 5 miles so far......so there is some hope for me!
I am running this marathon in memory of my Dad, who was my original running partner back in the early 90s, and who I am sure is watching me from above shouting words of encouragement along the way :A
I know that the credit crisis is affecting many of us, but if anyone DOES feel able to donate to mencap, it will be very much appreciated (and would encourage me to leave my cosy house and step outside for another cold wet and dark training run!).
