Tax Credit Income 2008-09

Hello, I am not working but I got income (From April 2008 to April 2009) as following:

1) Disability Living Allowance (middle rate care) £2152.80
2) Child Benefit (1 child) £902.40
3) Income Support £6561.60
4) Final Taxable Gross from employee p45 from April 1st 2008 till October 10th 2008 £8379.45

Do I need to add all these income (2008-2009) for tax credit tax year from April 2008 to April 2009 like eg: £17996.25

Do I have to tell tax credit of my housing benefit and council tax benefit as income ?

My friend told me that I don't need to put down income as Disability Living Allowance or Child Benefit as it doesn't count on tax credit income but only add the taxable gross from your last employee and income support.

I am not sure of this?

Just put the income from employment, the rest are non taxable for tax credit purposes as long as they are aware you're in receipt of IS and DLA there is no need to supply the amounts.

    Hello,

I might be completely wrong (and I apologise if I am) but i'm not sure you can claim Tax Credits if you are not working and are only in receipt of benefits.

It might be worth double checking just so they don't come back to you in the future?

Child tax credits took over the child elements within Income support a few years ago.
  • If you are completing a cvlaim form you should look at what income you are being asked for.

The only income you have listed above that would be declared to tax credits is your employment income.

However, you should be declaring your final P60 figure for the tax year 6th April 2007 - 5th April 2008.

You would note on your claim form that you receive DLA & IS but you dont need to give the amounts you receive.

You also would not declare housing or council tax benefit.

Income Support is now automatically checking tax credits on their system tell them how much tax credits is paying me before income support make a decision if I am entitled or not. Just found out that my income support is not entitled to me until Nov 11th because of WTC still paid me (4 weeks runup) before had to reclaim IS again on the 12th November. IS say I get £116 a week from WTC but I only getting one off payment of £204 two days ago and that's is my last WTC payment. I got new tax credit award showing they not paying WTC anymore but reduced my Child Tax Credit down from £200 to £139 every 4 weeks until April 2009.
