AOL problems-what a surprise!

Hi
Unfortunately I'm stuck with AOL for another 6 months and wondered if anyone else from Scotland or the North of England has had connection problems over the past 24 hours?
I phoned their helpline yesterday morning and a recorded message said something about 'outage' problems up North and it would be sorted in about 3 hours. Normal service was resumed last night, but then it went off around 9pm until 10am this morning. The recorded message on their helpline had been removed and I spoke to an Indian guy who said they only had a problem with their email?!
Anyone else had similar problems and what is an 'outage' problem?
Thanks
