    Darragh,

A while ago I decided to print off the Blockbusters 2-for-1 DVD/Games rental voucher from the Pigsback.com website. These can be used on Mon-Thurs up until 31st December 2005.

Today, I took a trip to my local Blockbusters armed with my printed voucher. I spent a while deciding which 2 DVDs to rent out. Having made my choice, I made my way to the tills and presented the shop assistant with my voucher. Unfortunately, to my embarrassment, they had no idea what the voucher was for, who pigsback.com were and said they couldn't even use it because it does not have a barcode. I asked them to type in the unique reference number that was printed on the voucher, but they said they couldn't use it because every coupon or voucheris supposed to be scanned in.

So Darragh........why have I been made to look like a right eejit in my local blockbusters? They must have thought I was some kind of scammer creating my own discount voucher trying to pull a fast one on them.

Has anyone else had any luck with the blockbusters stores accepting these vouchers?

    fyi - I got a reply from Rachel@pigsback .....
"I am very sorry to hear that the Blockbuster staff did not accept the voucher you printed off. This is a totally valid offer from both ourselves and Blockbuster and all staff should be informed, so as to accept them.

Pigsback.com have not had instances of this kind and takes the matter very
seriously. I will be speaking to the Blockbuster account manager who will in turn follow up with Blockbuster, and they will contact you on the issue."

I see that there's another Blockbusters 2-for-1 rental voucher, on pigsback, which expires Dec 31st 2006. Might give it another week before I print it out and take it along to my local Blockbusters - I'll let you know whether or not I have received another blank look from the Blockbusters staff!

Btw, Happy New Year to all you fellow Pigsback members!
  • I'm sorry to hear about your predicament Moomin,
I've worked in a Blockbuster for two years now and I've never had any problem accepting vouchers from pigsback.com members. I can't believe they told you they won't put through any voucher that can't be scanned. In the last year I can think of at least 3 of Blockbusters own discount vouchers which have had to be typed through!
Anyway, nectar vouchers and Tesco vouchers that are used in blockbusters are never scanned themselves- the barcodes that are used for both these and pigsback.com are held in a counter folder (barcode book) at the till. The same book that holds the barcodes that put through buy one get one free on popcorn etc.
All I can suggest is you go back and try again - the barcode is in the folder.
It's changed regularly so maybe the staff member who served you hadn't seen the code in there before. If they still refuse then just ask to speak to the manager- you earned that barcode so you should be allowed to use it!
    Hope this helped,
    :j Happy New Year!!
  • I've been clicking like a good un for the past week, even on Christmas Day - just checked my balance, my last points were received on the 23rd (about the same time it would actually let me answer the spotlight question)

    Any ideas?
