    Summary of everyones posts:

I haven't received my vouchers which I got free and you've got a cheek to stop me getting free things at the expense of your company. I'll take my business elsewhere and get free things somewhere else.
  • comicmankev, perhaps you could cross refer to some of their own marketing 'blurb' when you send them the email:

  • If people leave PB gives me a better chance of winning the comps!!! Bring on my 1,000 points!!!
2p off is still 2p off!
  • Hi guys,

    Thought i'd add my 2p too! :D

I, like a lot of people have enjoyed using pigsback these last few months, and I definitely think the site is different to the rest of the cashback sites. However, and I guess this is directed at Darragh, the regular points/quizzes kind of made up for the fact that on the whole, the rewards don't measure up to other cashback sites.

If there were some better alternatives to the leisure/cd wow/boots vouchers, I would certainly be inclined to do a lot of internet shopping through pigsback (as others have said). i think the click throughs are great, and I must admit I have become more aware of certain offers through pigsback, BUT if there isn't some real practical rewards, such as the Love2Shop (I know these wont be back) where people have more choice of what they can spend on, they will simply use other cashback sites offering amazon vouchers or real cash.

Pigsback is a fun site, and should continue in that vein. Even if the daily quizzes don't return, I would still use the site IF the rewards were more versatile and don't disappear all the time. They also need a wider range of retailers too. I've got a few piggypoints saved now, but don't really want to use them for cd's or boots vouchers (have enough boots points thanks to the Grabbit crew ;))

BTW just thought i'd say thanks to all the regulars for keeping this thread entertaining, and helpful (i.e. quiz answers and pointers).

Its a shame that the quiz points have been taken off as it used to be an incentive to go on to Pigsback. Please bring back the points for the quiz!

They do this because of Christmas so they have lest things to do on the site their hopefully re-change this to the Xmas zone for click throughs instead of the questions. :xmassmile

If that's going to be the case why didn't they take down the quizes when the advent calendar went up?

While its nice to get the free piggypoints from time to time, I must agree with posters who point out the lack of decent retailers to buy from via pigsback. And as also has been pointed out there are more sites which offer better rewards when buying. Mutualpoints, Rpoints etc. I recall when ipoints first arrived, they too started off well, but soon went downhill. Pigsback looks like it could head down the same path. I hope not.

    my thoughts on this are:

Not only is Darragh in communications, he works for a Marketing company - a company which sells a service, and that service is us.

The people who claim that we should not complain are wrong, but likewise, those who are unreasonable and complain at the slightest problem are out of order.

As someone who has been "internet savvy" like many here for a considerable amount of time, I think its important to view situations like this with eyes wide open

We give pb our personal details, we click through ad's, we drive traffic from their site to their customers sites, thats what they sell, and so far they are doing damn well out of us

The biggest problem I see is that they have moved from the Irish market to the English market, and they did not analyse the user profile.

    1. The Irish user (and I mean the average Irish user) will not use pb as much as some of us as the plain fact is that e-commerce is still not up to the same standard as it is here in the UK - it costs more to get packages delivered, grocery shopping is almost unheard of except in the main cities, etc......
here in the uk, people are a lot happier to buy online - meaning that the number of points pb give out are probably higher than their irish equivalent per person.

    2. The uk user will have higher expectations than the Irish user - because of the level of competition. We all have Rpoints, Linemypocket, Greasypalm, etc......... and they give us something which pb simply doesnt - cash. They are also well run, and we get regular payouts and benefits from them. The irish community in general does not use/have forums like this, which help us, as members get the most out of every opportunity we are presented with.

    3. In underestimating the popularity of the site, they have completely mismatched their budgets, spend patterns, stock of rewards etc... (this is not a criticism, just a direct result of misjudging their potential popularity and member profiles)

So my thoughts on what to do next (or at least what I will do next)

I will stick with pigsback - I enjoy the jackpots, and I agree that while you sometimes win less than you wager, hey - at least its not as bad as losing completely. I think they are slightly better than most other reward sites - but could learn a lot from some of the others. The quizes are something you dont really get on other sites, and I just think they offer more than say simply a shopping portal like ipoints etc...

My advice to Pigsback (should they want it) is:

Get a decent incident management system - invest in something like Remedy (action request) - the days of managing a customer relations like this through email alone are gone - and if you do use a system like this already, put some automation in so that your members at least think their call is being listened to.

Invest in some ITIL training - you are an IT service company - it does not appear that you are employing many examples of the best practice in this area, - Darragh's comment on "show me any company like us who do not have problems" is simply not good enough - you should not be comparing yourselves to the industry standard, you should be setting the industry standard - remember "good enough is not good enough"

Do some analysis on your rewards - look at what people are buying (redeeming) - i wonder has anyone taken the blockbuster rewards for the years membership or the spa vouchers - if people dont want them, get rid of them, they are not adding value. Look at stuff people want - L2S vouchers - examine why you could not satisfy the demand - if it is simply because the supplier would not give in the volume you wanted, then change supplier, there are people offering similar vouchers, no reason why they would not want your business

Sort out your budget and cash flow figures to take account of the affect that your launch in the UK has had, be proactive in managing demand for various rewards,

I write this as someone who has been a member of the Irish site since it started - way back in 2000ish and moved to the UK site when I relocated here and I have had £100 L2s vouchers (they eventually arrived) about £40 in cd wow vouchers, probably €60-70 in call credit for my irish PandG mobile, an umbrella, keyrings, bits and bobs, probably €20-30 in paddypower betting vouchers when they were offered and goodness knows what else, I would love to know the number of piggypoints which has been through my account, as I do a couple of jackpots a week, quite often at 1000 points a go. My mum, sister, flatmate, 2 ex girlfriends are members, and were all introduced by me - I would hate to see this site go down the pan. This was simply written to give my opinion on what is and can still be a cracking site, if both the members and the website think their actions through.

If anyone from pigsback would like me to elaborate on this, please let me know, - contact me via PM
