Homebase furnature order... delayed?!?!

Hello,
Been lingering around here for a while... myself and my other half completed on a house at the end of Sept - 4 weeks from offer to completion which we were very happy with...
Anyway - we placed an order at Homebase for one of their BOGOF chairs (3 seater, get 2 seater free) and dining table - this was ordered 18th Sept - a week and a bit before we completed as we were hoping they would be delivered in time for when we moved in...
they said it could take up to 28 days - thought fair enough - 28 days came and past last week so I began to chase... they said 2 weeks wait... hhmm not happy but not too long and now I have received a letter to say due to supplier issues the estimated date is now the 19th Nov. When I rang them again this morning – they are having supply issues with BOTH items!!!!
I am not happy with this what so ever and a bit nervous as I put the order on a debit card instead of my credit card (at the time - i was more about thinking our mortgage going through!!!) and know I am not protected if the company goes bust/further problems...
Has anybody else been waiting for furniture or any info about the supply issues?
I am tempted to cancel - I can get a dining table from a few places - but not sure about the sofa's as most these days are built to order

We've bought loads of stuff from Argos/Homebase fotr our new place & they've managed to deliver most things wen they said they would.
The only REAL problem is our sofa - delivered damaged, in May, since then, been back with wrong sections 3times as exchange, actually spoke to them tonight, looks like we'll get some £$£$ & keep the faulty one!
Most places won't have instant sofa stock, just as you mention, so you might be best to keep waiting.
& there's not much chance of Homebase going out of business, I wouldn't think.
What you could do, is go into the store, cancel, get refund & re-order on credit card, if you were really worried. But if you bought on 10% discount day, you'd probably loose the cash saving!!
You'll be pleased with the quality & value for $£ when it does arrive, though!

We bought 2 sofas which were on offer from homebase to sell our flat as the old sofas didn't look good at all. They lasted about 10 months before collapsing. I guess its true what they say, you get what you pay for and the homebase furniture is about as cheap as it gets with quality to match.
I really should have found the receipt and tried to get them replaced but to be honest we were glad to get rid of them.0
