self employed plasterer,£40,000 of dept,caused by two large jobs going under on me,dept,built up on credit cards,a personal loan,overdrafts,now the credit crunch has hit the builders,which has a knock on affect to me,recieving loads phone calls,letters,and about to default on at least three of my commitments,no work,no money,registared with cccs,but trying to stick with own plan,its not working,going down fast.

Sorry to hear things are bad for you. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of builders/tradesmen in a very tight situation soon if not already.
Can you post up an SOA (I think there's sticky link at the top) and I'm sure the good people on here can go through it and maybe see if there are ways to help out.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You have definately come to the right place for advice.
As someone else has said the best place to start is with a SOA - this lists all your incomings, outgoings and your debts including their interest rates. Here is a link to a calculator where you can add all your details and then paste back on here http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html.
From this we can there see if there is any room for reducing your outgoings and increasing debt repayments.

Hi Dave - Welcome to the board, I'm fairly new too and honetly in a week a so of listening to advice from here and taking action, I'm still in debt but I feel more in control.
My Partners a self employed Joiner so we're in the same boat re credit crunch and lack of work!

yes have registared with many of these sights,hopeing to obtain work,some i get, some not,there must be many buliders,seeking these sights along with the private sector work,beacause builders are not building,the banks are not fronting the money,its a proper mess.looseing much sleep.thanks for help0
