How to break in leather boots! Please help!

I'm a boot fanatic. I've found that the only way to break in leather properly is by wear but you can try a little neatsfoot oil to soften the leather making it easier on your feet. You'll find it in tack shops. Hope it helps. :rudolf:0

I have just bought the most gorgeous boots, but they are a tad nipped in at the feet. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stretch them a bit? Dont fancy going down the lets be crippled with skint heels routine! I have done it before and its not nice.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

one ex- army guy once told me that, when issued with army boots, the guys in his regiment would soak the boots overnight in a bucket of water and wear them the following day. this must have been seriously uncomfortable, standing in soaked boots all day, but thereafter the boots would be supple and never skin heels or cause blisters.
Not sure if this is suitable for your boots ( you didn't specify leather type ) but another way would be to do what my grandfather used to do and spend an hour gently tapping the heels with a small hammer to loosen up the leather.
hope this helps.miladdo0 -
A good way to stretch any leather footwear is to get a waterproof bag (ie one with absolutely no holes in) and line the boot with it whilst filling it up with water. When the foot part of the shoe/boot is full with water (inside the bag) then place on a flat surface and put in the freezer. Overnight the water freezes - which then expands - and will stretch the leather. Let it defrost before removing the bag of water.
I guarantee this works, even if it does sound a little scary!0 -
If they rub on your skin rub some vaseline into your skin and onto the boot on the inside. This will help the boot slide up and down the skin without rubbing it.
I know what you mean though, I have that trouble every time I buy new shoes. They absolutely cripple me for about a week and then suddenly they fit wonderfully. I think your foot has to mould to the shape of the shoe.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
