Pre-Lit Xmas Tree

I have just brought out my xmas tree only to find that one of the lines of bulbs are not working, do i have to try every bulb with a new one till i find the culprit or is there an easier way of getting them all to work.

Please help

Thanks in advance
Sue

If you have a cable detector, it MAY help, but otherwise, basically, yes. If the bulbs are screw-in, I'd suggest going along the string gently tightening them; if they're push-in, I'd suggest wiggling them around. It's unlikely there's a burnt-out bulb because the last time they were powered up I guess they were working - it's more likely to be a mechanical problem. Do carefully check the string for damage before you plug the mains in again.

Another method would be to get a neon screwdriver and do a "binary search" along the string by removing bulbs, starting at the centre, and prodding the screwdriver in their holders, but that carries some risk.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Thanks so much Gromituk, all my bulbs are now working perfectly. All i had to do was give them a little wiggle.
