Prior to the credit crunch
I had been reading around the site and getting all fired up about the stuff I could be doing far more sensibly, so I decided to start small - although I will get involved in some of the challenges soon.
Anyway, kids off for half-term and they wanted to go to see "Wicked" at the Apollo Theatre. SO ... family rail card to the rescue (suggestion in MSE newsletter) for cheap travel then out for grub at ASK with vouchers (recommended in MSE "Eating out") which saved over £17.00 then to see the fabulous show ... tickets for four totalled £86.00 inc. booking fee - that compares to over £300 I was quoted from ticketmaster!!! Brilliant night out.
It was a special treat but was only possible because of all the great advice on this site so can I just say a massive thanks very much from all of us, to all those involved.:T Onward and upward.

Well done The alchemist
It's good to know that people are being smart with their money and taking the credit crunch head on. Glad you enjoyed the show!

Cheers for reply - I think I'm hooked. Just wished that someone had been around when I left school to ingrain a bit of commonsense when it came to money and how to deal with it best. Not blaming anyone else - could have worked it through for myself but seemed a bit daunting in truth. Wouldn't be so bad but I'm now the other side of 40 !!
Anyway just saved several more £££s today by following advice on petrolprices.com as recommened by MSE so it's been a great week. Again thanks to all.0
