Knitting For Christmas Pressies!

I've bought lots of great knitting yarn oddments over the last year from the charity shops (all new) and really must get going to make something, but at the moment I'm at the stage where I know what I want to knit (and the patterns are free) - but can't think who to give it to - I really want to knit one of these hot water bottle covers , but don't know if they will be viewed as an old persons' - old fashioned present! I think they're quite cool - what does everyone else think? "Retro trendy" or not?

I love the first 2 and having a ripped shoulder muscle my hot water bottle is my best friend just now.
The 3rd one would be lovely in some of that fluffy wool and can't see the 4th one.
I've started knitting again and am doing several xmas presents as hand knitted baby clothes are cool and trendy again apparantly :TOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Mrs Money, I think those first 2, the cable ones are making a comeback, I think you've picked one of the best times to do this. I know with all the rising costs with gas and electric lots of people are going to bed with hotties. I definately am rather than putting the heating on and in the daytime too. I burned myself on one last night (just an ouch moment) cos I wrap mine in a towel and it came open. The irony is I've knitted for years and never even thought about making one. I'll be making 3 this week. Thank you for the patterns.
Good luck with yours, I'm sure people will be very grateful.0 -

Hope this gives you or others an idea or 2.
I would love to be able to knit these up but my knitting comes out very wobbly and I knit backwards (left-handed) and it drives my mum nuts having to fix my mistakes! My daughters scarf is so uneven that you would think it has scalloped edges.
Notice that circular scarves and snoods are back in fashion too.0 -
Well, thanks everyone for your thoughts - thats inspired me to get knitting and - I never really thought about it - the cable one is great for men! I was stuck in pink fluffy mode!
Happy knitting all!0 -
I'm learning how to knit, I have a set of 5mm needles, a couple of balls of wool, and i'm struggling, just learnt the knit stitch and pearl so far, but only in straight lines, and dont know how to 'end' my knitting, will really have to get learning if i'm going to start making things, but finding it quite hard!! :eek:Trainee Wakeboarder, Fashion and celebrity devotee!0
