    What are they plugged into?
Is the light on the speakers or whatever it is you're plugging them into?

    My initial thoughts would be:
    Is the power on?
Are they plugged into the correct output?
    Is the volume turned up?

Please provide some more information so we can help.

Press the windows key and Pause/Break ket at the same time, when the system properties box pops up click on the hardware tab, then click on the device manager tab. CHeck to see if any of the items have a yellow circle with an exclamation mark in it.

If you don't have any just close the windows, the problem is not with the hardware/drivers.

If you have an error check if its the soundcard, sometimes deleting it from there and then restarting will resolve the issue, sometimes it doesn't and you may need to find the drivers and reinstall

  • Have you checked all the sliders in the mixer, and that mute isn't on - (got to ask!).. Have you got a pair of headphones that you could plug in to check if any sound is coming out?

    Try a hardware test..

    Got a Mic handy?

Voice Tab, Test Hardware. Maybe worth a try.... for XP

Coincidentally mine has just stopped working (for the first time ever..), a reboot cured it.
