Right price for decorators??

Hi,
I just wondered if anyone can help??
I have had to get the decorators in, I usually do it myself but I'm unable to now, anyway I am not clued up on the cost of tradesmen anymore so I just wanted to make sure I wasnt getting ripped off
Ok work includes, repapering one wall because of damage, and a little papering behind some built in shelves, I'm sure no more than one roll will be needed.
Painting cieling and walls (its about 12x12ft room)
Boxing in some pipe work.
I'm sure it could be done in a day but it would be no more than 2 days work.
All materials included in the price!!
Ok quote is £380
What do you think?? these are nice old guys but i'm just unsure of the right price.

I've no idea what decorators charge but if in doubt, get another quote.0

It does depend on a few things. Firstly your location. Trades are more exspensive in London than say Wales. The second important factor is the materials you have specified for the job. Wall paper can vary considerably in price. A ball park day rate for plasterers and decorators is around £150/day. As I said though this will vary geographically. As mentioned above though, always get atleast 3 quotes before proceeding with any work you expect to be exspensiveSome people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

We had a decorator in about 2 years ago and then he charged £12.50 per hour (we are in Wales).
My son is a ceramic tiler/kitchen/bathroom fitter and pretty much on a par with other trades around here at approx £120 per day.
I'd say for two men and including materials then £380 isn't bad at all especially if it's a 2 day job, as long as you know that the standard of their work is good, you don't want to be paying that to end up with a rubbish job. Have you had a recommendation?0 -
Have you seen work these guys have done? or just out of the local paper. I would never let any one do work on my home that Ive not seen previous work that they have done. Be very careful been ripped of with a driveway(seemed nice guys) it collapsed after a week or so. The nice guys told me to go you no were!'HAIL HAIL' :dance:0

go by recommendation, do not look out for the cheapest price.
whilst not always 100% the case, generally you get what you pay for in terms of quality out of painters. (i manage 6 at work, the quality varies greatly & they all do weekend "foreigners")I am a building surveyor and will provide advice based upon what you tell me. It is just that, advice and not instructions. Based on the fact you're getting it for free expect it to be vague!
