Can anyone reccomend a good diy manual?

Hi, I am looking to get my hubby a diy manual for christmas and having looked at amazon am a bit confused at which is the best one to get? It seems to be between the Collins and the readers digest which both seem to have good reviews, but hoped someone on here could help!
