Noriwch union direct house claim issue

Guys had my nikon d40x got damaged, wind blow my tripod over and the shutter realise stopped working while away in the isle-of-sky. camera had damage and 18-55 lens also. It was covered under my issue, the company have come back and said they can repair this cheaper than replacing it.

I'm due to go to Cuba next march on another photographic holiday and the last thing I want is it to go wrong they give me a 6month guarantee but that's no use if I get problems in Cuba.

I would never go down the route of buying a recondition camera and I'm not sure about having a repaired camera back.

I have yet to check my police and I suspect it will say if it can be repaired cheaper than a new one I have to take that.

Has anyone had a similar issue or any ideas if I can get them to change there policy.

Settlement of the claim will be at the insurers' discretion. They can choose to repair, replace or pay cash but will always take the option that costs them the least.

Who's doing the repair? If it's going back to Nikon, you shouldn't have anything to worry about but as cameras can pack up at any time without apparent reason, shouldn't you have a back up just in case?
