A compact digital camera with minimal shutter lag?

I am looking to buy a new compact digital camera to replace my old Canon Ixus 2 which is wearing out. I'd like something with a high quality wide angle lens like this Panasonic Lumix but I was wondering about how this camera is with the dreaded delay between pressing the shutter release, and the picture actually being taken. Can anyone advise me what this model is like please? A friend has told me that his new Nikon is slower than his old Sony so this has made me a bit concerned - I don't want a long lag when taking photos.
Also - there is a review about this Panasonic Lumix which suggests the sound quality on movies is poor - would anyone agree with this report?
Overall I want a camera with a wide angle lens, minimal shutter lag and half-decent movies! Any advice would be appreciated please.

Have a look at the reviews and specs at www.dpreview.com and www.steves-digicams.com
I can't comment specifically on that camera as haven't owned or used it, but it is well received, sure someone else will be able to.
I'm a small Ixus for snaps which is pretty quick once focus lock is made, but for anything else I use my DSLR Canon kit and that is totally instant.0 -
My Lumix (TZ3) is pretty good for shutter delay, as long as it hits focus properly (or in sports mode). Sometimes when shooting in the workshop the AF gets confused and it seems to 'hang' and won't take a pic.
Can't really comment on the sound as I rarely use it in video mode, but I've never noticed it being poorer than expected when I have used it.0
