ICESAVE positive spin?

Hello,

I am no money expert, I just work, save, spend like most of us, but I was thinking....

Is it true that the government are not just going to give us any money back that's in ICESAVE but they are going to give us back interest to?

As ICESAVE are no longer operating does that mean they wont reduce interest rates like most other saving accounts may do? I am sure in the past if the BOE reduce the rates buy 0.5% ice save would follow. If this is true, will the government payout interest based on the rates when the went under or the rate that they 'may' have been at?

So... this may mean a few extra £££
