Less than a fortnight here (from posting forms to being told our award), I think it really depends on your circumstances and what evidence you provide. We put every bit of info in that we could think of, every document we could get our hands on and also DS's physio filled in the optional part in the back for us. This was at the end of August (2008).

    Good luck :)

You may well have another 10/11 weeks to wait, have they written to say they have received the application, and if you gave details of your GP for medical report have you let him know to expect a request from the DLA?

Yes I have received the confirmation letter. My GP knows all about it, he did a letter of support which i sent with the application.
I've also included everything I had, hospital discharge letters etc. I think I've given them everything they could want so will have to sit tight now!
  • 14 weeks for decision, now on the review stage so another 14weeks,then it will prob go to appeal so goodness knows how long after that but hopefully by easter 2009........

    DS3's was 16 weeks,DS2's was 19 weeks
DS2's is currently up for renewal.Went to appeal for him 2 years ago and he attended (so they have actually seen him in the flesh) and his rate was upped to MRC and LMOB and have sent a wad of reports explaining his deterioration and reports regarding his ops etc..it's been 7 weeks so far...no news.
Rovers hope you don't have to wait much longer
  • Have you heard anything yet. I put a claim in for dla for my son. Sent it in on the 5th october and he received his award today. Low rate mobility and middle rate care. They did not even contact any of his contacts, it was done purely off the claim from. When i did my daughters last year hers also was done in 3 weeks. Yet mine (same condition) took months as i had to have a medical etc. Mine and sons is indefinate(that means nothing in dla terms as i have had 3 reviews in 6 years) and daughters runs out when she is 16.

I got a letter today saying they've written to my consultant for a medical report....... Don't know if that's good or bad! He won't necessarily know about my care needs, he was on holiday when I was in hospital.
    Will have to sit tight.
Scooby, great to have your son's award. I wonder if they treat under 16's slightly differently?
  • My son is 18 so he would be under the adult section. I was pretty amazed i though he would have to have a medical like i did but no. Don't worry too much about the drs report as to be honest dla is a complete lottery regarding who gets it and who is turned down. In my case i welcomed the medicals as at least they could speak to you and see first hand your problems. Hope you get some good news soon.

Got son's renewal yesterday (he's 14 Rovers) award is now up until his 16th birthday which I think is usual
It would've been 7 weeks next tuesday I'm stunned!
It was upped to HRC and HRM..I'm still in a state of shock,we had to appeal to get him anything at all to begin with!
Done on my form and a letter I sent on from his consultant outlining his future operations/treatments etc
Hope you don't have to wait too much longer

Just under 3 weeks in June/July this year.
