Would anyone be able to recommend a good website to sell your house privately on – I’ve tried BuyitPrivately.com, but am looking for an alternative? Any other (serious) suggestions for selling your house without having to pay those hefty estate agent fees would be very welcome.

I think it's a false economy in the current market, unless you've got a really desirable house in an area that is bucking the downward trend.
You could try just doing it completely yourself with putting ads in the local paper etc, but there are so few buyers out there at the moment, it's going to be a tough old slog.0
