PDF convertor to J-Peg

Hi I am after some free software that will convert a PDF Scan picture in to a J-Peg , I have tried looking on the internet but you either have to pay for the program or its a freeversion with a watermark on ! Is there any free versions out there without watermark

I just have a couple to do so dont really want to pay

Firstly, did you scan and produce the PDF yourself? Storing just a picture within a PDF isn't very efficient so if you have the original, you can just save that as JPEG.

    If not...

I'm not sure if these applications will open PDFs to access their contents, but good free image editors include:

    Paint.net and The GIMP

If they are just low res scans, the quickest and dirtiest method would me to enlarge to full screen, take a screen shot (Print Screen keyboard button)< paste this into one of the aforementioned image editors, crop down to just the image and save as a JPEG.

PDFCreator from http://www.pdfforge.org/ sounds like the wrong thing, but it can 'print' a PDF file to a jpeg. You just open your pdf doc in your usual pdf app, then print it to the PDFCreator driver,

Alternatively PDF X-Change Viewer Free from http://www.docu-track.com/ will export a PDF as a jpeg file.
Both are excellent bits of software, worth far more than the (zero) cost :T

But unless the resolution stored in the pdf is very high and you want to retain it, I would use isofas method and just screengrab the bit required.

You can do that in Adobe Photoshop. Do you know anyone with it that could do it for you?

  • Hi thanks I will look into the possibilities of these when I get a moment.

Basically they are photos that I have sanned in on our photo copier at work(with permission) to PDF( only option available) and want to get some decent enlarged photos printed by one of the online companies.

The scanner I have at home is low quality and I cant enlarge the photos that are scanned to it to a good enough quality to be able to print

If you are still stuck after the advice above, and if they aren't too massive, send me a private message (top of the screen) and I'll do it for you in Photoshop or Illustrator.

Pity there isn't another option, because the copier software is effectively scanning as an image and then embedding the image file into the PDF. Are there no advanced options that allow you to save the output as an image file, such as TIFF?

Although I've never tried it, there are online services such http://media-convert.com/ where you can upload a file, and it will convert it into another format for you. Just had a quick look and they appear to do pdf - jpg
