Building supply stores

Hi

I was not sure where to post this, so I picked "Saving & Investing" as I believe this is an important topic for 'Investing'.

What is the best way in the UK of accumulating stores of:
1. Food
2. Water
3. Fuel
4. Physical Commodities such as gold & silver.

This seems relatively easy in the US with companies set up for this but not in the UK.

If others are, how are you building up your supplies?
What else do you think is important to start building reserves of?

Many Thanks

The cellar is always going to be more secure than the garden shed.

Seriously, are we talking survivalist stuff here? If so, I can't believe anyone would use a company for that - it goes against the whole ethos of preparing for a meltdown.
