some trollop in waitrose car park scraped my car's back bumper and now i have a line of blue paint on my lovely shiny bumper. anyone got any tips other than t-cut for removing it. i cannot use t-cut the smell makes me feel sick. i'm now in process of checking all blue cars for evidence lol.

Is denatured alcohol and methylated spirits the same thing coz i,ve read that it works and doesn't harm the car,s paint, may just go on the scrounge to some car bodyshop for some paint thinners??

There is Farecla G3 not sure if it smells like T-cut and it is a bit pricey.

Before going for a cutting compound I would try a solvent approach first.
    petrol or cellulose thinners

Just use some normal car wax and some elbow grease.

    Message from my OH:

Im a professional paint sprayer. You may need professional polish to remove the mark, along with a polishing mop if the mark is deep. If it is too deep it may need to be painted. Professionally, you would remove the mark with low grade flatting paper and polish it up with a mop. The only thing you might be able to try if it is not too deep is Cif. If that doesn't work you can get other polishes other than T-Cut. Look for polishing compounds in places that sell car paint (not halfords). In future don't park in the vicinty of trollops!!!

Does the same to me!! Not many people realize this is probably the WORST product to use, to bring back a shiny paint finish.

The ammonia in it is what makes you feel unwell & it actually destrys the paint, too!!

Anyway, to answer your Q, try some Mer http://www.merproducts.co.uk from most car parts places. As it is a POLISH,. as opposed to a WAX. So it will, mildly cut into your paintwork, but shouldn't do so in a way to damage it.

The other ideas, using professional compounds, are probably best left to the guys at the paintshops, or valeting bays.

So if you can't do it with Mer, maybe a chat with them would be better!

& if Clio is female, a short skirt & shiny red lippy, works well, when doing so, accordiong to Mrs V!!
