panasonic home cinema system help

Need advise anyoen purchased the home cinema system scht17 panasonic and used it with there pv500 plasma,i could have purchased this from my nearest high street store but went for online order as much cheaper.
Well it arrived and i had to unpack and build the speakers etc now i wonder if anyone got the same set as i am confused as to how to connetc them to the current plasma and dvd recorder.
It show on the instructions easy but it mentions connect the system up with cables which are not included with the system set,now the cables that are not supplied are they meaning the cable thats maybe set up in back of plasma and dvd recorder and i just connect up the amp player with the tv and recorder through it,but they dont have the cables included with system which i think is weired as they where not cheap.

I got these for an xmas gift to parents and will look more into whats at the back of there plasma and recorder but a quick look i could not see the cables they mentioned its been mostly done with scarts.
Now would the plasma they purchased if i cant find the cables i need do you think the people that set them up did not leave them with parents and took them away as if i am right most things these days come with leads and scarts are normally extras and are purchased as its better and easy to set up with,but the home cinema system i mention does not have the option to connect up the tv and recorder with scarts.
I would be very angry and surprised after paying so much i need to go and buy leads is this,is this correct or can someone tell me more as i am confused about how and what i connect them up with.

but hope this might help

it sounds like you need an optical fibre cable for connecting dvd player to home cinema amp(you sometimes see a little square plug covering the holes)

And component video leads to conect from home cinema to plasma screen(usually marked component video out(on amplifier) and component video in on plasma screen)
also you may just see the letters "Y, PB, PR" marked next to the sockets

you can get any cables you need from either maplins or richersounds
